Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers to spend Rs 3000 crore on capacity expansion plans
Fertilizers and chemicals major Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd (GNFC) plans to infuse around Rs 3,000 crore over a period of three years for its various capacity expansion plans, which includes setting up three new plants at Bharuch. The company would fund these expansion projects through its internal accruals and debt. The company has already received approvals and licenses for the three new plants. State-run GNFC has drawn up plans to increase the capacity of its existing products, which include Concentrated-Nitric Acid, Weak Nitric Acid, Toluene Di-isocynate (TDI). Currently, it produces 15,000 TPA of Toluene Di-isocynate. The company claims that the new plant will be three times bigger than the existing TDI plant of the company. According to an estimate, the total production capacity of the proposed TDI plant would be around 50,000 tonnes per annum (TPA). Apart from all of these, the company is also in the process of getting approval from the Centre to set up a plant for feedstock conversion to get cheaper gas. Recently, GNFC revamped its methanol manufacturing facility. The company operates three plants for methanol production, which collectively have a production capacity of 725 tonnes per day (TPD). Shares of the company declined Rs 5.40, or 4%, to settle at Rs 123. The total volume of shares traded was 92,494 at the BSE. (Thursday)
