Google-Powered Cellphones witness the arrival of Last.fm

Google-Powered Cellphones witness the arrival of Last.fmOn Friday, Last. fm made the announcement regarding the availability of its internet radio application for the Google Android mobile platform, which is being seen as beneficial addition to the fleet.

The listeners would be able to utilize each and every feature of Last. fm on the T-Mobile G1 and other upcoming phones that run on the platform.

Last. fm co-founder Martin Stiksel, reported, "The app truly is a to-go version of the site, rather than a stripped-down-for-mobile version."

The users would be able to listen to personalized artist and genre stations via the Last. fm for Android, which will also alert them when a band that they are listening to is on tour. Furthermore, the users can also tell their friends whether or not they would be attending the concert with the help of their profile. The app also tracks what the users listen to and rates it, which is then added to their profiles.

The users can also view their profile page via the mobile app, but can't edit it. They can also check out charts and artist pages from the site. There are some additional features too, like the ability to stream other people's stations and share tracks with friends.

It would also be nice to know that while a user is using other features on his phone such as e-mail, the web, a poker game, etc, the Android lets the app keep playing music. Such a feature is absolutely absent on iPhone platform, which dedicates pretty much all of its resources to whatever app you're using at a given time.
