Google launches another social network to take on Facebook
Internet giant, Google has launched its new Google+ social network to take on the rival Facebook, which is the biggest social networking site in the world.
The new Google+ service, which is under its field trail, will allow users to share photos, messages and comments and it also integrates Google maps and images. The service is designed to enable users organize their contacts easily.
Google has tried earlier to take on Facebook but without successful results. Both Google Wave and Google Buzz were not able to attract user’s attention. The company said that the new service is now available to only a few years but it will soon be released to millions of users.
Vic Gundotra, senior vice president of engineering at Google, said in a press release, "Online sharing needs a serious re-think, so it's time we got started. Other social networking tools make selective sharing within small groups difficult."
The service has some impressive features like "Circles" interface to add friends, and a "Hangout" group video chat feature. However, analysts say that Google may find it difficult yet again to compete with Facebook with is about to cross the mark of three quarters of a billon active users.
