Google I/O 2015 Falls Short of Consumers Expectations

The technology space would have surely yearned for advancement if Google wasn't there to contribute immensely with its platforms; the Android ecosystem, Google Maps, Google Search, Gmail and Chrome that warranty the dominance and clout it commands in the technology arena.

But as the expectations of innovation are undeniably high, the Google I/O 2015 developer conference leaves consumers wanting for more. Google unveiled an array of upcoming technologies but none offered major enhancements.

The Google mobile operating systems announced the feature of Volume control though this doesn't seem to be much of advancement. So the users wait to figure out the dynamics behind the feature.

Also, as Google forays into the automobile industry to develop a driverless SDK, it has entered into 35 brand partnerships to ensure a widest possible market presence. Though the Google cars would make travel much smoother and convenient, their practicality is yet to be established.

It has been doubted if this car would cater to wider public or will it just end up ferrying in the Googleplex neighborhood.

Further, Google would have to compete with ace auto makers like Nissan-Renault alliance which is working on autonomous drive vehicles with the target of launching one for consumers by 2020.

The critics also question if this tech car would be anything more than Google Maps and Hangouts on a new screen size which an Android phone with an effective Voice Assistant could also accomplish.

Google also announced the launch of a massive 4000 apps for its android wear with no reference made to hardware and device based upgrades. There was no mention either of any new partners for Android Wear which already lags a few months after you begin using it. The much sought- after Apple watch and the recent Lenovo Magic View smartwatch will surely put the Google wear in a hard spot.

We want something more Google!
