Washington, Feb 25 : Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt has reportedly said that more revolutions like the one in Ukraine would be seen when another two billion people connect to the Internet in the next five years or so.

In an interview with Scott Pelley for CBS News, Schmidt said that the Internet is a one-time power shift that allows individuals to see and hear things that they have never seen before.

When asked about how does he sees the future of China, a country which broadly restricts access of its citizens to information on the Internet, head of the Google ideas office, Jared Cohen, said that something unique would happen there, as a billion people would come online in the next years to air their complaints about the government.

Meanwhile, Schmidt said that it would be difficult to suppress legitimate speech and discussions in China on broad social networks like Weibo and WeChat, which are three and four hundred million people strong.

Schmidt further said that he and Cohen have talked about the probability that within a decade, the terrible censorship that is practiced by some governments would be effectively impossible, as people are working on ways around it.

After travelling to 40 countries, including authoritarian regimes, such as China and North Korea, the two tech giant heads have concluded the Internet is a force for liberation that cannot be stopped. (ANI)
