“Golmaal Returns” registers place in UK Top 10 chart The Bollywood flick, “Golmaal Returns, a sequel to ‘Golmaal - Fun Unlimited’, has been a hit of sorts – it has found place in coveted UK Top 10 chart, and grossed over $10 million at the box office within five days of its worldwide release on October 29.

According to a spokesman of the Indian Films, the muti-starrer shares rank with Hollywood biggies as ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘High Street Musical 3’ and ‘Mamma Mia.’  

Starring Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Arshad Warsi amongst others, the film was released by the Indian Film Company (IFC) at 1,050 locations worldwide, from where it has grossed Rs 497 million over the Diwali weekend; in India alone the movie grossed Rs 450 million.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, the Indian film grossed 8.6 million Pakistani Rupees, and in the Middle East, it mopped up about 1.4 million Dhs from 20 locations. Moreover, in the US and Canada, it raked in about $0.20 million from 60 locations.  

Investment Adviser to IFC, CEO Sandeep Bhargava, said that “Golmaal Returns” is the company’s fourth blockbuster, and a testament to its strong marketing and distribution strategies.

Bhargava added: “Released on more screens and believed to have higher takings over the Diwali holiday weekend than other films, the company, once again, has set new benchmarks in Bollywood. Additionally, the business model adopted at the company ensures we are able to maximise the revenue streams from the film’s future success as we retain many of the rights to the film.”
