London, Nov 5 : Adam Gilchrist has warned England’s that after their flop show at 20million dollar Stanford series they will face more misery in the Ashes next summer.

The retirement of the legendary wicketkeeper, along with Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, sparked talk of an Australian decline.

But after seeing Kevin Pietersen and Co crumble in their big-money match on Saturday, Gilchrist is confident the little urn will not change hands next summer, The Sun reported.

“I think that when you lose great players like McGrath and Warne, then any side is going to come back to the field a bit. But I do think that Australia is an extremely resilient cricket nation and our team is still a very formidable one,” he said.

Despite the confidence in his former teammates, Gilchrist admits England skipper Pietrsen is a player they fear.

“Pietersen is very impressive. In Australia we see that he brings a natural aggression and positive attitude to the side. It could be similar to what Michael Vaughan was able to instil so successfully during the 2005 series,” Gilchrist added.

“I have always regarded him as a fantastic cricketer and an extremely dangerous opponent. He is a larger than life character and I can''t really think of any weaknesses in his game at all,” he further said. (ANI)
