German Muslims protest outside Shirbini trial
Berlin - Around 100 German Muslims protested against anti- Islam internet incitement on Wednesday, in the city of Dresden where a verdict in the murder case of Egyptian Marwa el- Shirbini may be delivered later.
The participants called on the government to act against internet sites that preach hatred against Islam and Muslims.
A 28-year-old man is on trial in the city for the murder of el- Shirbini in a courtroom earlier this year. The murder caused outrage in Egypt, where many believe the woman was killed because she was a Muslim.
The murder of el-Shirbini was, in the face of such hatred, not surprising, said Sheikh Abu Anas from Braunschweig.
A number of right-wing extremist groups in Germany are known for making anti-Muslim statements in online forums. (dpa)
