Drugmakers Support Janet Woodcock For U.S. FDA’s Top JobWith current FDA commissioner - Andrew von Eschenbach, who was appointed by President George Bush, planning to tender his resignation before Obama takes office, American drugmakers are lobbying President-elect Barack Obama to nominate Janet Woodcock, 60, a 22-year insider at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as either the agency’s acting or permanent chief.  Andrew von Eschenbach and the agency, have both gained the ire of and been severely criticized by lawmakers for approving unsafe medications and not doing enough to block tainted food imports, including drugs.

Tech Mahindra Opens Sixth CoE In UK With the intention to cater to an increasing European and North American clientele, Tech Mahindra, India's sixth largest software exporter, has opened up its sixth centre of excellence in South Tyneside, UK.

The provider of solutions and services to the telecommunications industry has invested £3 million invested during phase-I of the project, while another £2 million will be invested during phase-II.

The new centre would generate 500 new jobs over the next three years.

Five-Year-Old Girl Unearths Vetebra Of 50,000-year-old rhinoceros

A five year old girl, Emelia Fawbert unearthed the vertebra of an Ice Age woolly rhinoceros which roamed the area about 50,000 years ago during a fossil hunt with her family. The 16-inch long bone, described as a rare find by paleontologists, was poking up from the ground at Cotswold Water Park, Glos.

The girl was accompanied by her father James Fawbert, 33, and grandfather Geoffrey Fawbert, 61 of Cirencester, Glos.

The father said, “It was really exciting when she spotted it sticking out of the clay.....It looked really impressive but, to be honest, none of us had a clue what it was until the experts told us.Emelia, wants to be a paleontologist when she grows up and knows everything about dinosaurs, mammoths and such creatures.
