The state unit of congress party in Gujarat demanded white paper on concessions offered to Tata's Nano project by the ruling Narendra Modi government. An anonymous note circulated in vernacular media alleged that TATA is offered big sops for establishing Nano project in the state for publicity of state chief minister Narendra Modi.

Kathmandu - The Nepalese government has held first informal talks with armed rebel groups operating in southern Nepal in a bid to end years of violence in the area, a media report said Thursday.

The meeting is the first reported between the Maoist-led government and the armed rebels groups since a new government was formed in August.

The meeting took place in a border town in India between the local development minister, Ramchandra Jha, and representatives of a few of the armed groups based in southern Nepal, Kantipur newspaper reported.

In a bid to ease the liquidity pressure in the monetary system, the union government has directed public sector enterprises to keep their surplus funds with public sector banks (PSBs) without any competitive bid. Total surplus funds amounts to about 1,00,000 cror. This amount would meet fund requirement of the banks, as they have already used funds to cover government sponsored farm loan waiver and other debts.
