Credit crunch sees rise in church attendanceLondon, Dec 8 : With the ongoing credit crunch thousands of people are once again turning back to religion, the Church of England has revealed.

The rise in church attendance has been seen all over the country ever since the recession, and church elders believe that the economic downturn meant people are rethinking their values.

In September, when the annual service back to Church Sunday was held, where members of the church are encouraged to invite a friend to a service, 37,000 new congregants attended the service, which was almost twice the number who attended in 2007.

Czech Republic MapPrague - The Czech Republic's inflation slowed down in November to 4.4 per cent, lowest in a year, as the country braced for a fallout of the global financial crisis, government data showed Monday.

The November annual inflation rate dropped significantly from 6 per cent recorded in October chiefly owing to a lower rise in food and transport prices, the Czech Statistical Office said.

Consumer prices fell 0.5 per month-on-month as fuel prices kept falling for the fifth month. Falling inflation enables the central bank to further slash the country's borrowing costs.

Sweden could contribute to Latvian assistance package

Latvia FlagRiga - Sweden is ready to send a substantial sum of money across the Baltic Sea to prop up the ailing Latvian economy, according to media reports in Latvia Monday.

Latvian current affairs TV program "Nothing Personal" claimed Sunday night that the first economic aid payments could arrive by the end of this week, and the Latvian press contained similar reports on Monday.

The TV show said Latvia will receive around three billion euros from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with which the Latvian government is attempting to negotiate an economic assistance package.

The volume contains 50 handwritten pages, including Wilde''s earliest surviving letter to his lover Lord Alfred Douglas, whom he called Bosie, which documents the start of his doomed gay relationship with the Magdalen College undergraduate in the early 1890s, reports the Independent.

The 20-something girl from Zhuhai, Guangdong province, reported to hospital completely deaf in her left ear soon after the painful pucker, reports China Daily

And according to Dr Li, an ear specialist, from Zhuhai Second People''s Hospital, it would take at least two months for the girl’s hearing to return to normal.
