Taiwan's ex-president Chen expected to be indicted for corruptionTaipei - Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-bian was expected to be indicted on corruption charges Friday afternoon, becoming the first Taiwanese leader to be charged.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office announced it will hold a news conference at 3:15 pm (0715GMT), and it is expected to announce the indictment of Chen and possibly members of his family.

Taiwan press said the indictment document is 800 pages, and Chen is likely to be indicted on four charges of corruption, which could result in 30 years imprisonment or a life term.

Fifth phase of polling in Kashmir tomorrow

Srinagar, Dec 12 : The fifth-phase of polling in eleven constituencies in the districts of Kathua, Shopian and Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir will go to the polls on Saturday.

The 11 constituencies are Tral, Pampore, Pulwama and Rajpora in Pulwama district, Wachi and Shopian in Shopian district and Bani, Basohli, Kathua, Billawar and Hiranagar in Kathua district.

Of the 179 contestants, there are five women in the fray, in the three districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kathua districts. 58 independents are also in the ring in this phase of elections.

Among these constituencies, Shopian and Tral have the distinction of having the highest number of 21 contestants each in the electoral fray.

Washington, Dec 12 : Low-carbohydrate diet might help you shed those extra pounds, but it can have an adverse impact on your cognition skills, says a new study.

Tufts University researchers found that when dieters eliminated carbohydrates from their meals, they performed more poorly on memory-based tasks.

"This study demonstrates that the food you eat can have an immediate impact on cognitive behaviour," said Holly A. Taylor, professor of psychology at Tufts and corresponding author of the study.

"The popular low-carb, no-carb diets have the strongest potential for negative impact on thinking and cognition," Taylor added.
