A new research shows that the immune system kill bacteria more actively at night as compare to the day time. Shirasu-Hiza and her colleague David Schneider conducted the study on laboratory model organism, Drosophila melanogaster and found that the specific immune response known as phagocytosis oscillates with the body's circadian rhythm.

Study on fruit flies revealed that those sick with bacterial infections lost their healthy circadian rhythms, which paces the human body's healthy eating and sleeping cycle.

Kolkata, Dec. 17 : The Calcutta High Court has rejected the bail plea of industrialist Ashok Todi, the main accused in the Rizwanur Rahman murder case.

Justice B P Sengupta rejected the bail application on Wednesday.

Earlier, a bench comprising of Justice Amit Talukdar and Justice P S Banerjee differed on whether to grant bail to Todi. The matter was then assigned to Justice Sengupta by Chief Justice S S Nijjar.

Justice Sengupta, in his judgement said: "As Ashok Todi is the main accused and there is a strong prima facie case against him, bail can not be granted at this stage."

According to two major scientific studies, seven new genetic variants make people overweight. All new identified genes are linked to appetite control and obesity. An Icelandic biotechnology company, deCode Genetics, and an international academic consortium conducted the study and published their findings yesterday in the journal Nature Genetics.

New Delhi, Dec 17 : Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH) leader Mehmood Madani has criticised the act of militancy, calling it a curse on mankind.

Addressing reporters here last evening, Madani praised Indian Muslims for openly condemning the barbaric act of militancy and said that for the first time general public have come out of their houses in huge numbers.

"This is the specialty of India and Indian Muslims who come out and openly condemn the terror attacks. We are doing that job which has not been done by anyone in the world. Those who are promoting the acts of terror and terrorism are enemy of both the humanity and Islam," said Madani.

London, Dec 17 : Nicole Kidman has revealed that her role in Baz Luhrmann's new epic movie ''Australia' may be her last, for she is not interested in making films any more.

Now that the actress has finished a two-week stint filming a small role in the musical `Nine', Kidman is not seeking any more work.

"I have to say I''m not that interested in making films any more. I know I''m not meant to say that, but that''s where it is for me now," the Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
