Two women killed as light planes collide in Sydney

Australia FlagSydney - Two small planes collided in mid-air in Sydney's south-west Thursday, killing two women, both believed to be in their 20s.

The plane carrying the women, a Cessna 152 aircraft owned by the Basair Aviation College, crashed into the backyard of a house in the Sydney suburb of Casula.

The two women killed were a flight instructor and a student pilot.

The other plane, a single-engine Liberty aircraft owned by the Sydney Flight Training Centre, with an 89-year-old male instructor and 25-year-old male student pilot aboard, made an emergency landing at Bankstown Airport. The two men were unhurt.

Texting may be best barometer of intensity of illness

UK FlagLondon, Dec 18 : A young person''s ability to send a text message could be a good indication of how ill they are, doctors at some of the UK''s busiest music festivals have said.

Medical teams treating those who felt ill at music festivals found that once patients were able to use their mobile phones to text their friends, they were usually well enough to leave the first aid tent.

The test could work in busy A&E units, the researchers told the British Medical Journal.

"We won't arrest Tsvangirai," Zimbabwe government promises

Robert MugabeHarare - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's government said it would not arrest opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai for travelling on an expired travel document, according to state media Thursday.

Tsvangirai, head of the Movement for Democratic Change which won national elections in March, is in Botswana with only an expired emergency travel document (ETD) issued to him last month when he left the country, and he has said he cannot return because he does not have a valid travel document.

Convention On ‘Global Warming’ To Begin From Dec 18

The theme of the convention will be ‘Global warming and climate change’.

Dr. Manjula Desai, college principal said, “The convention is a platform to motivate undergraduate students to pursue research activities and to develop analytical, presentation and leadership skills, self confidence and camaraderie.”

Madrid cancels ban on "human ads" in city centre

Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon cancelled a planned ban on the ads after it sparked widespread protests.

An estimated 30 people walk around, mainly near the central Puerta del Sol square, wearing placards on their chests and backs.

The placards advertise pawn shops, with the text "I buy gold," tattoo shops, and the like.

Pressure on Iran over nuclear programme futile, says Ahmadinejad

Iran FlagTehran - Any pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme would be futile, the official ISNA news agency quoted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying on Thursday.

"No power in the world could threaten the Iranian nation," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with clerics during a visit to the south-western province of Khuzestan.

Western nations, led by the United States, accuse the Islamic republic of pursuing a clandestine nuclear weapons programme, a charge Iran denies.
