Islamabad, Mar. 19 : The Pakistan Government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the apex court’s verdict which disqualified former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif from contesting elections.

According to The News, the petition was filed by Attorney General of Pakistan, Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa.

Washington, Mar. 19 : The new US policy for Afghanistan may see hundreds of additional US officials joining hands with US troops as a part of a larger strategy against extremists.

According to US officials, President Barack Obama may announce the new Afghan strategy next week.

The new policy is considered to be based on the recommendation of Obama’s top national security advisers, besides senior military, diplomatic and intelligence officials.

Kolkata, March 19 : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee''s escaped unhurt in an accident on Thursday after the police pushed a person who drove his two-wheeler into Bhattacharjee''s convoy.

Bhattacharjee was heading towards the state secretariat from his 59A Palm Avenue residence in the southern part of Kolkata.

The person is being interrogated at the Park Street police station. His motorbike has also been seized.

The police has ruled out the possibility of an attack on the Chief Minister.
