Kevin RuddSydney - Prime Minister Kevin Rudd Friday said those involved in people smuggling should "rot in hell" as authorities investigate the cause of a deadly explosion on a small fishing boat carrying 47 Afghan asylum seekers off the west coast of Australia, news reports said.

The Australian Associated Press (AAP) news agency quoted Rudd as saying his government would maintain a tough policy against people smugglers who were believed responsible for Thursday's explosion.

London, April 17 : Researchers studying ultra-cold atoms have made a clock that takes 300 million years to lose just one second.

The atomic clock, which is twice as accurate as any similar device made previously, may believably turn out to be useful for measuring distances to far away galaxies, or for tracking tiny movements in the Earth''s crust that may give a warning of earthquakes.

Its makers have revealed that the clock consists of gas atoms trapped in a magnetic field and cooled almost to absolute zero, or minus 273 Celsius, the coldest temperature permitted by the laws of physics.

According to sources, an NGO employee Mumtaz Begum was killed in a bomb blast in the office of the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) in the Hattian village of the region.

Local Taliban leader Habibur Rehman while claiming the responsibility for the attack, accused the NGO of propagating obscenity and vulgarity.

Rehman threatened of such attacks in future also.

Israel FlagTel Aviv - A knife-wielding Palestinian infiltrated a Jewish settlement on the southern West Bank Friday morning and was shot dead by a Jewish settler, the Israeli military said.

A spokeswoman in Tel Aviv said the Palestinian had infiltrated the settlement of Beit Hagai, south of Hebron, with the aim of carrying out an attack.

She said the Jewish settler who had shot him was lightly injured by the knife.
