Washington, April 19 : A new documentary debunks the myth that alcohol causes men to be violent to women.

The film features compelling stories from four survivors, and additional insights from professionals in domestic violence, substance abuse and policing.

The survivors featured in "Alcohol and Men''s Violence Against Women" hope that other women will not accept alcohol as an excuse for violence, or the suggestion that stopping drinking may render abuse history, from now on.

US-based CA Inc, the IT management software company, has decided to hire 1,000 professionals in India over the next 3-5 years.

According to reports, the company will employ an additional 1,000 people for its Hyderabad R&D centre, taking the total strength to 2,600 over the next 3-5 years.

The Hyderabad facility currently houses about 30 per cent of the company's global R&D headcount.

Washington, April 19 : Art students at Spelman College in Georgia, US, have developed an interactive board game to promote financial literacy, called ''Money Matters''.

They say that their interactive board game is aimed at giving teens real-world experience managing finances.

The game has been created for Youth Art Connection, an art program offered through the Boys and Girls Clubs of metro-Atlanta.

State Bank of India, the country's top lender, has agreed to lend Rs 10,000 crore to Vodafone-Essar, the Indian arm of UK-based telecom firm Vodafone Group to finance the company’s entry into 3G (third generation) telecom services and expansion of its operations.

According to sources, the five-year loan carries an interest rate of 13.25 per cent for the first two years; thereafter, it will be re-adjusted on the basis of the average prime lending rate.

The company intends to use the funds for network rollout, broadband operations, and to pre-pay part of its previous debt.

Washington, April 19 : A Dalhousie University psychologist warns that perfectionism is not a healthy approach to life''s challenges, explaining why individuals with a high degree of perfectionism are often setting themselves up for a host of physical, emotional and mental problems- particularly related to binge eating.

"Perfectionism is a double-edged personality trait," says Simon Sherry, Assistant Professor of Psychology.

Lanco Infratech, the flagship of Hyderabad-based Lanco Group, has decided to invest Rs 15,000 crore in the power sector during 2009-10.

Sources reported that it would be an 80:20 debt-equity structure and lead to financial closure of 2,640 MW installed power capacity. The projects are located in Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
