Islamabad, PakistanLahore, Jan 16 : Retired Air Marshal and Tehreek-e-Istaqlal chief, Asghar Khan anticipates military intervention sooner than later, as the present Pakistan Government has failed miserably during its nearly yearlong rule.

Addressing the general house of the Lahore High Court Bar Association on Thursday, Khan said the present situation in the country is of serious concern, as performance of the rulers is almost nil.

Ranbaxy Acquires USFDA Approved Manufacturing FacilitiesCountry’s largest pharmaceutical company, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, announced that it has acquired manufacturing facilities that have the approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Speaking on this, Malvinder Singh, CEO Ranbaxy Laboratories said, “We will transfer (production of) some products from India to America. Also, we are looking at making some acquisitions of manufacturing assets.”

He added that apart from US, his company is also keeping its options open to buy FDA-approved facilities from other countries.

The apex court told the Todis to surrender their passports and not to move out of Kolkata without prior permission of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). They have also been hindered from communicating or influencing witnesses connected with the case.

Sony Ericsson posts fourth-quarter loss after "tumultuous" year Stockholm - Mobile telephone maker Sony Ericsson on Friday reported a fourth-quarter loss and lower sales, describing the 2008 business year as "tumultuous" in the wake of the global economic downturn.

The group posted a pre-tax loss excluding restructuring costs of 133 million euros (174 million dollars) for the quarter, compared to a pre-tax profit of 501 million euros for the corresponding business period in 2007.

Restructuring costs in the quarter were 129 million euros.

Tommy Lee Jones and Barry Corbin inducted into Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame

Tommy Lee JonesWashington, January 16 : Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones and his `No Country For Old Men' co-star Barry Corbin have been inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

They were honoured at the ceremony in Texas on Thursday in recognition of their cattle-herding credentials.

The honour was bestowed upon them by a committee that celebrates western lifestyle, and pays tribute to those who hail from all-American backgrounds.

Jones is an eighth-generation Texan who raises cattle on his ranch, while Corbin was born in Lamesa, California, but lives and ranches in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ban Ki-moon arrives in West Bank, talks to Fayyad

Ramallah - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Ramallah Friday morning for talks with Palestinian caretaker Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Talking first to Fayyad, Ban is scheduled to have lunch with Abbas before heading to Ankara in the afternoon for the next leg of his Middle East trip.

Ban, meeting with Israeli leaders in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Thursday after talking to the Egyptians in Cairo a day earlier, said "the elements are in place" for a truce to be reached "reasonably soon."
