Cuisine of the Valley

Kashmiri dishes have always been regarded as a specialty. Only very few chefs have mastered the art to delectably cook the rich cuisine. Sahara Star gets you a fine fare of Kashmiri cuisine till March 1. Chef Quyoom Rahi along with the master chef of Namak, chef Vishal Kunwar, brings to Mumbai the fine delicacies of the Valley. Chef Rahi will emphasise on the use of spices like cumin, clove, turmeric, fresh chilies and black pepper. On the platter are vegetarian delicacies like zaffrani kanagucchi, nadru goshtaba, tsok wangan and gogji. Meat lovers have lots to choose from — muj gard, martswangan korma, goshtaba, dum kokur, yakhni pulao and jardalo boti.

Shahid Kapur in demand

Today is Shahid Kapur's birthday. He turns 28. Reportedly Shahid will be hosting a small party at his Yari Road apartment in Versova this evening with his close pals who are not from the film industry. There will be a platter of vegetarian Rajasthani and Punjabi khaana to greet his friends.

This year has brought Shahid a lot of good luck. Apart from signing a few big banner films, even corporates seemed to have lapped him up as their brand ambassador in these times of economic downturn. But ask Shahid Kapur the reason behind it and he says that's all because there's a strong marketing team backing him up.

Zee inches closer to Colors

Zee inches closer to ColorsThe osmosis of gross rating points (GRPs) amongst the top general entertainment channels (GEC) continues.

The last week (Week 7 of 2009) saw some notable action, with the current No 3, Zee TV, closing in on the current No 2, Colors. Zee's ratings had been on the decline in Week 5 and Week 6, but the channel has covered up in the previous week, notching up 208 GRPs, which makes the channel just 51 GRPs away from Colors.

'At the top, it's a psychological war'

Colors, the general entertainment channel from Viacom18, has come out all guns blazing, mopping up close to 259 GRPs within seven months of launch. Within striking distance of Star Plus, the current leader in the general entertainment channel (GEC) space, Colors is making an aggressive pitch of its arsenal of seven new shows expected to go on air in the next fiscal. And through this pitch, it is hoping to lock-in annual deals with advertisers. The channel is also doing its first show with Balaji Telefilms. Arcopol Chaudhuri spoke to Rajesh Kamat, CEO, Colors and Ashvini Yardi, programming head, Colors, to find out more. Excerpts:
