Stop kidding please

This film should definitely be a strong contender for one of the most senseless movies of our time. Wonder what obligation it was that made a talented actor like Arshad Warsi take up this film. The less said about Yash Tonk and Ashish Choudhry, the better. The million dollar question would be… what is the one thing that makes Kisse… watchable? That is a question that is bound to remain unanswered.

He’s a curious one

Benjamin Button just gets more curious as the film progresses. He is almost Forrest Gump-like, and his life story keeps you transfixed till the end. Yet, there’s an undercurrent of tragedy that runs right beneath the surface, and it is hard to ignore. In the end, you can’t help feeling extremely sad, but you can’t decide whether that’s good or bad.

The film is an adaptation of a short story by F Scott Fitzgerald. It is definitely more realistic than its source, and more imaginative as well. The backwards clock in the beginning of the movie is enrapturing, and this tone of intrigue and mystery surrounds the rest of the film. As far as the story is concerned, Benjamin Button is top notch.

Director: Ajay Chandok

Rating: 1/2

A few movies every year make film critics question their profession. Kisse Pyaar Karoon is one such film. It’s as brain-dead as its central characters Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest and is a two hour assault on every sense.

SIDDHARTH - THE PRISONER

Cast: Rajat Kapoor, Sachin Nayak, Praddip Sagar

Director: Pryas Gupta

Rating: **

The title of this film is no coincidence. In fact it’s rather a give-away as to where this languid, pensive study, highly influenced by European cinema (note the peppy background score) is headed. And just to confirm its philosophy, the film opens with the following lines from the Rig Veda: ‘Make me immortal in that realm where all longings and desires disappear’.
