Gaza militants fire missile into Israel

Mahmoud AbbasGaza - Palestinian militants based in Gaza fired a home-made rocket into Israel on Saturday, violating a fragile ceasefire.

Israeli sources said the rocket landed in the Western Negev area, but caused no damage or casualties.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack. On Thursday, militants who said they belong to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement fired Tow rockets into Israel.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, arrested three of the perpetrators.

Hamas interior ministry spokesman Ihab al-Ghussein said people who fire rockets are "working against the Palestinian interest and serving the Zionist agenda."

The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire took hold on June 19 and it aims at lifting the Israeli blockade on Gaza. After every rocket attack, Israel closes crossing points into Gaza. (dpa)
