Gangjee shares third spot in Avantha Masters

Rahil GangjeeIndia's Rahil Gangjee has carded five under 67 to finish at the tied third spot at the end of the first round in the 1.5-million Euro Avantha Masters at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon on Thursday.

Gangjee, who had won Volkswagen Masters in China in 2002, carded two birdies on his last two holes. Germany's Marcel Siem is placed at the top with eight under 64 followed by Chinese Taipei's Chan Yin-shin who is one shot behind of him.

Speaking to the media, Gangjee said that he is happy with his performance on the opening day of the tournament and he will continue with same strategy in rest of the tournament. Gangjee added that he has certainly benefited by his new strategy of concentrating on one shot at a time during the practice session.

Among other Indians, Bhullar and C. Muniyappa finished at the joint 19th place while Jeev Milkha Singh, Arjun Atwal and Jyoti Randhawa carded even-par 72 to be tied at the 57th spot.
