French government to decide whether it will pay faulty implant patients

French government to decide whether it will play faulty implant patientsThe government in France has said that it will take a decision on whether it will pay about 30,000 women to remove breast implants, which have been found to be harmful to their health and might be linked to risks of cancer.

The breast implants produced by French firm Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) were banned after it was found that they were linked to non-medical grade silicone filler. In the UK, The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has said that it has not found any safety issues with the implants.

However, several women in the UK are planning to take legal actions against the clinics where they underwent surgery to get implants. About 250 women in the UK are planning to sue clinics that used implants that were produced by French firm, Poly Implant Prostheses (PIP). The authorities in France might soon announce that about 30,000 women, who underwent the treatment with implants, might have them taken off due to the risks associated with the implants.

Some researchers in the UK have assured that there is not need for the women to get them removed as they are not linked to risks of cancer. However, about 250 women with implants from PIP are planning to sue six clinics in the UK.

The department of health has said that Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have found after consulting health and regulatory teams that the implants are not linked to the risks of the disease.
