Forty-six fresh cases of gastroenteritis reported in Bholakpur areaThe fresh cases of gastroenteritis caused by drinking contaminated water from the Bholakpur area are being reported everyday. The number of persons infected by contaminated water is increasing day by day. The death of an elderly man, Yaseen Ahmed due to gastroenteritis takes the toll in Bholakpur tragedy to nine. Forty-six fresh cases of gastroenteritis were reported on Friday.

Nearly a dozen persons in Malakpet area were rushed to the nearby Area Hospital after complaints of diarrhea and vomiting.

Hyderabad District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO) officials said that medical teams were stationed in affected areas and two mobile medical teams were providing treatment to Gulshan Nagar, Bangladesh, Indira Nagar and Patan Basthi areas.

The government announced that families of seven persons who died due to consumption of contaminated water will be given Rs 2 lakh each.
