FIIs infuse Rs 3,614 crores in just 5 days in Indian MarketsThe Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) put their best contribution in the equity market of the country, bringing foreign investments worth Rs 3,614 crore during just five trading sessions of the current month.

Heavy fund inflow by FIIs, accounting 91 percent of total purchases during the year, helped benchmark Sensex to cross psychological level of 12000 points at the Bombay Stock Exchange. Sensex recorded highest level of 12,134.75 points, gaining over 23 per cent so far this year.

Foreign investors purchased equities worth Rs 14,447 crore and sold Rs 10,832 crore during last week as per data provided by the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

Total purchase of equities for the full year stood at Rs 1,35,692 crore, resulting net investment to Rs 3,970 crore. FII infused biggest ever investment in the previous week with Rs 1,491.10 crore in a single day.

However, market analysts termed the recent development as just momentary, having no link with revival of investor's confidence.

Arun Kejriwal Head of Kejriwal Research and Investment Services said, "There was heavy buying by FIIs in a single day and on the other days they made normal investments. This week they would square-off their positions and wait for clarity for the general election results on May 16."
