Fiat Linea sedan made its first public appearance
C plus segment sedan Linea was launched by Fiat India Automobiles (FIAL) from the Ranjangaon plant. The car will enter market in the middle of next month.
It is estimated that company would have 2000 units in all its dealers for immediate sale by then. This is a new Fiat model to be launched in India in seven years.
Rajeev Kapoor, managing director and CEO, FIAL, said the car will be distributed by Tata-Fiat dealers but declined to reveal its pricing details.
The new Linea will be available in six variants, with both diesel (1.3 l) and petrol (1.4 l) engine options. The diesel model would be powered by a 1248cc 16-valve multijet diesel (which powers the Tata Indica Vista) while the petrol model would be powered by the 1368cc, 16-valve FIRE petrol engine. Both engines will have the all new C510 5-speed gearbox.
Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles Ltd said: “It’s a grim economic scenario and all auto players are feeling the heat. It’s a challenge for us but we see this as an opportunity to launch a new car. The new product in the market will induce demand among the customers.’’
