London, Dec 25: Former ''Face of Asia'' model Sahar Daftary, who fell 150 feet to her death from a luxury apartment block, told police months before her tragic demise that she had been sexually assaulted.

Daftary, who won the Face of Asia contest in 2007, fell from a 12th floor flat in Salford Quays, Manchester.

Police has confirmed that Daftary had lodged a complaint earlier this year - but then decided not take the matter further.

"Police received a report of sexual assault in May 2008," the Sun quoted a spokesman for the force, as saying.

"An investigation was launched but the victim refused to co-operate further," he added.

Meanwhile, the distraught family of the Muslim model insists that she would never have committed suicide because it's against her Muslim beliefs.

Initial findings suggested Daftary''s death appeared to be either a tragic accident or suicide, police sources said. (ANI)
