European automakers sceptical about sales in 2010
The year 2010 may prove to be a new life for many companies who have faced their worst phase in the year gone by but the European automakers are equally sceptical about the unit sales in the European market.
While the passenger cars sales remained at their 13-year low followed by a much bigger shock from CV sales hitting their historic low, automakers are not expecting a miracle in the unit sales. In fact, the companies have projected a fall in passenger car sales primarily in markets where the fleet renewal term is over, an association said in a statement.
Notably, fleet sales kept the flag of U. S. auto industry flying high in February this year. The association further pointed out the fact that in 2009 total vehicle production fell 17% when compared with 2008 figure of 15.2 million units.
While Germany is still standing on the top slot in the 27-country EU when it comes production figures even after 13.8% decrease over 2009 to 5.2 million units, it is followed by Spain and France. The Association further said that the demand for small cars is continuously rising in various countries.
