Europe welcomes i5700 Galaxy Spica Android Smartphone by Samsung
The i5700 Galaxy Spica was today unveiled officially by Samsung. The i5700 Galaxy Spica, which is basically the Android-powered smartphone, has been dubbed the Galaxy Lite in the rumor mills. A quick 800MHz processor is featured in the new i5700. This helps it to be the maiden Android smartphone with support for DivX videos.
Apart from being a quad-band GSM/EDGE phone, Galaxy Spica is also equipped with 3.2Mbps HSDPA data speeds on the 900 and 2100MHz UMTS bands, a 3.2-inch Half-VGA (320 x 480 pixel) TFT capacitive touchscreen display, along with a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus.
The users will get the Galaxy Spica already loaded with the full suite of Google services, including Google Maps, Gmail, and YouTube, and runs on the Android 1.5 "Cupcake" operating system.
The i5700, like all Android phones, is equipped with a full HTML capable web browser, along with having GPS functionality, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi data, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for stereo music listening. The measurement of the phone is 115mm x 57mm x 13.2mm (4.5in x 2.2in x .5in) in size and boasts with a 1500mAh battery for long life.
Though no pricing information has been provided at this time, the Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica should come in Europe and the CIS nations by now.
