Essar Steel, a global producer of steel with a footprint covering India, Canada, USA, and Asia, has decided to set up its fifth service centre at Bhuj with an investment worth Rs 50 crore to cater to the auto and general engineering sectors.

According to company official, the Bhuj service centre will be the first centre of its kind to be set up by any steel company in a town that consumes 1.5 million tonnes of steel per annum.

The centre will have an annual capacity of 2 lakh tonnes per annum and is slated for commissioning by March 2010. At Present, Essar Steel's service centres situated at Chennai, Bahadurgarh, Pune and Hazira.
