Need motivation to continue studies? Read on this interesting research, which states that higher education can be a good way to expand total lifespan. The study has found an association between educations levels and risk of death.

The researchers from the Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Colorado have said that those who have lower-level of education may face same health risks as being faced by smokers.

In the study, the researchers have assessed data collected between 1986 and 2006 and participants involved in the study were born in 1925, 1935 and 1945. After assessing the data, the researchers then studied how the level of education has affected the death rate of adults between 25 and 85 years old around five years back.

From this, the researchers came to know about an association between higher education and longer lifespan. The researchers said people who have obtained high school degree are more likely to have healthier lifestyle as they earn more. Also, they would be having better mental health.

The researchers said more than 145,000 deaths could have been avoided in 2010 if adults would have completed high school education. Also, around 110,000 deaths could have been prevented in the same year if adults would have completed their college education degree.

Study's author Virginia Chang said, "Education -- which is a more fundamental, upstream driver of health behaviors and disparities -- should also be a key element of U. S. health policy".
