ECB leaves rates unchanged

Frankfurt  - The European Central Bank (ECB) left its key interest rate on hold Thursday amid growing economic concerns triggered by spiralling inflation and contracting growth.

The decision by the ECB's 21-member rate-setting council to hold its benchmark refinancing at 4.25 per cent was line in with analysts' forecasts.

Thursday's move not to change rates came after the ECB delivered a 25-basis points rise last month. (dpa)
