Dropbox launches new version of its desktop client for Mac and Windows PCs On Tuesday, Dropbox updated its desktop client for Macs and Windows PCs to the Dropbox 2.0 version; giving it a refreshed look and feel, and bringing added functionality to the Dropbox window that can be accessed by the users either through the menu bar of their Macs or the task bar of their PCs.

The updated Dropbox 2.0 version - which can be downloaded from the Dropbox website - not only makes the activity on the users' accounts more visible, but also speeds up the users' access to files.

The drop-down menu of the new Dropbox version chiefly serves as a news feed from which users the activity on their account becomes visible to the users, who can now can see the files which have been added or changed recently from the new Dropbox menu icon. In addition, they can also view as well as accept pending invitations and shared files from other users, and see the overall status of their Dropbox sync.

The new Dropbox menu icon also facilitates the users in quick sharing of recently changed files with other users.

In a Tuesday blog post pertaining to the updated Dropbox version, the company said: "If someone shares a link with you, you can now get to it immediately - directly from the Dropbox menu. You'll get notifications in real time as people share with you, and can see them later just by clicking the Dropbox icon."
