Dole issues a recall on bagged spinach in 13 states
Food Company Dole issued a recall on bagged spinach in 13 states in the Midwest, South, and on the East Coast on Wednesday morning. As per the Food & Drug Administration, the recall has been issued after a sample of the spinach was tested positive for salmonella.
In case you have recently purchased spinach from Dole and are worried that the recall might affect you, all you need to do is check the bag product code, present on the top right corner of the package, and see if it is either A27409B or A27409A or not.
The likely infected product has an ‘Enjoy By’ date of October 15. Its UPC number is 7143000976. The UPC code is present on the back under the bar code. Precaution is better than cure, so you must go through the bag closely before enjoying spinach.
In a press release, Dole said that no illnesses were reported as of Wednesday night. The recall has been issued as a precautionary measure, resulting from the salmonella-positive tested batch. CNN reported that the recalled products were on sale in Connecticut, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
On Wednesday, Dole Packaged Foods gave assurance to its customers through its Twitter page and gave information for contacting its main company, Dole Food Company.
Salmonella is caused due to bacteria that at times gets into food products and packaged foods at the time of processing. As per the reports on the website of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States 1.2 million people contract salmonella every year.
