Dixie Carter leaves for her heavenly abode at 70
Stage and television actress, Dixie Carter died on April 10 at the age of 70. Also known as the "Designing Woman," she died after a long and suffering fight with cancer.
She was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Houston. Dixie's main credit is that she gave more diversity to the American and particularly the Southern femininity on the screen. While her career had turned towards the worse, she was going to appear for the revival exercise of George Bernard Shaw's "Mrs. Warren's Profession."
The event was to take place in Washington during June. But Dixie was unable to make it for the rehearsals as well, as the information came from her side. Dixie Carter's most famous work was as Southerner Julia Sugarbaker in "Designing Woman." It was a chronicle which was put together by CBS and covered the lives of four women in an interior designing firm.
There were 163 episodes in the series which began in 1986 and ended in 1993. Dixie was also involved with politics and made sure that her support became apparent. She shifted sides many times and in the last one she became an ardent supporter of Bill Clinton.
