Development of Sex Robots should be Banned, says Dr Kathleen Richardson
You must have heard about robots doing household work, picking and placing objects, or making many difficult things easy for us. Most people are happy with the robots featuring artificial intelligence, but a robot that can have sex with human is angering some people.
Dr Kathleen Richardson, a research fellow from De Montfort University in Leicester, is among those people who are not happy with sex dolls blessed with artificial intelligence. According to Richardson, sex robot should be banned, in fact, development of such products should not be allowed. Sex robots are undesirable and unnecessary, Richardson said.
While talking to CNBC, Richardson said when she first saw the subject, sex robots, she thought it would be harmless for humans and could reduce the demand of a woman and kids. “But then as I researched the subject more I found that the opposite was true — that rather than reduce the objectification of women, children and also men and transgender people, these robots would contribute and reinforce their position in society”, Richardson added.
According to Dr. Helen Driscoll, a leading authority on the psychology of sex and relationships, artificial intelligence is advancing with every passing day, and in coming years, the way in which humans and robots communicate to each other will change drastically. In next five decades, ‘Robophilia’ will be normal, she added.
She said that technology has already started to advance the term ‘sex’, and it is advancing at a fast pace. By 2070, physical relationships will be considered as primitive.
