Delhi Metro to construct 14 sharp curves in East Delhi

Delhi Metro to construct 14 sharp curves in East DelhiUneven twists and turns will force DMRC to construct a record number of sharp curves on its standard gauge Hazrat Nizamuddin to Shiv Vihar corridor in the third phase of the ambitious project.

The Hazrat Nizamuddin to Shiv Vihar corridor in the tightly packed East Delhi measures 25 kilometers in length.

A spokesperson for DMRC said the corporation would have to construct 14 sharp curves on the 13-kilometers stretch from Trilokpuri to Seelampur. Curves that are less than 300-metre in radius are considered sharp curves.

Speaking on the topic, the spokesperson said, `Due to uneven twists and turns in this 25 kilometers elevated corridor, DMRC is being forced to construct as many as 14 curves on this stretch that passes through very congested areas."

The elevated section is a part of the 59-kilometer Mukundpur to Shiv Vihar corridor.

Trilokpuri Block-15 will have the first sharp curve, which will be 210-metre in radius. The minimum radius of the curvature will be 200 metres on the corridor.

The list of areas that this line will pass through includes Trilokpuri, Kalyanwas, IP Extension, Anand Vihar, Welcome, Seelampur and Maujpur.
