Czech foreign minister discusses peace process with Jordan officials
Amman - Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout on Tuesday held talks with senior Jordanian officials on ongoing efforts to ensure a resumption of peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel.
Kohout, who doubles as deputy premier, met separately with Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and Speaker of the Upper House of parliament Zeid al-Refai.
Dahabi briefed the Czech official on "Israel's latest aggressions on Jerusalem's al-Aqsa Mosque", saying the Israeli violations "will only derail peace efforts and stability in the region", a statement from the premier's office said.
The prime minister referred to the breaking into the Islamic shrine by Israeli troops at least twice over the past two weeks, sparking clashes with Palestinian worshippers.
The two sides stressed the need for boosting bilateral ties particularly in the economic, trade and tourism spheres, the statement said. dpa
