According to an official, it was found out that some unidentified criminals have hijacked an ATM of a public-sector bank with an estimated amount of Rs. 7.60 lakh. The incident took place on early Monday in a commercial-cum-residential complex, Plaza Building, in Purna Nagar in Chikhali area. The ATM was of United Bank of India.

Investigating officer, B. D. Mohandhule has reported that the ATM has an amount of Rs. 7,60,000 and weighed around 400 kg and was stolen from the complex. He said that the thieves have first cut off the CCTV wires, the alarm

systems, and then the power supply lines to the ATM before stealing it and because of this, there are no leads to trace it out.

The investigation officer has also reported that at least five people are needed with a small tempo for transporting it to another place. This is the second incident which took place in Maharashtra.

It was found out that the first incident took place on Oct 28, 2009. In this incident, an ATM weighing 350 kg and containing cash of around Rs. 10,50,000 was stolen from the Kasarwadi area in Maharashtra.

Thieves are now using their ways to beat the technology. Many ATM booths are fitted with CCTV cameras but then also the criminals lifted an 800-kg cash machine.
