UP CM asks centre to extend Delhi metroAkhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has asked the central government to extend the extend the Delhi metro rail service in the National Capital Region (NCR) area that falls under Uttar Pradesh.

In a letter to union urban development minister, Kamal Nath, he wrote that the centre must give speedy approvals of extending the rail service from Delhi's Dilshad Garden to a new bus stand in Ghaziabad, from Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden and to Noida and Greater Noida. The state has already sent a proposal to the central government with a promise to take the responsibility for its share of expenses.

The Uttar Pradesh government believes that quick approvals at the central level will help the state in initiating follow-up action for the crucial projects. The chief minister said that the project would play a vital role in smoothening and decongesting public transport in the area by allowing commuters to travel in a safe and faster medium of transport connecting almost all corners of the national capital with its satellite towns.

The letter also stated that the union urban development department secretary has been informed about the in principle approval of the projects by the state governments.
