There were concerns that the total export during the first three months of the year would be recorded at 7.7 per cent, which is lower than previous quarter's 7.9 per cent, however, faster growth in the exports might help China recorded higher growth rate.

The higher than expected exports indicate that the world’s second largest economy is recovering amid growing demand for its products in other countries. The growth in exports is positive news for the economy. The encouraging export data was released as the new leadership works to stabilise the Chinese economy and increase economic growth in the country. The new leadership is focusing on self-sustaining growth driven by domestic consumption instead of trade and investment in the country.
