China’s Great Wall Motor Co trying to enter Indian market
Following the footsteps of commercial vehicles maker Beiqi Foton Motor Co., China's car & SUV manufacturer Great Wall Motor Co (GWM) is now making efforts to enter the Indian market.
Vishnu Mathur, director general of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), revealed that GWM officials were recently in Delhi for discussions about their potential entry into the Indian market. Mr. Mathur also said GWM has a team of its officials in India which is searching for location for a plant.
Speaking on the topic, Mr. Mathur added, "They are meeting industry. They are meeting government. They are meeting suppliers."
GWM, which runs in China without a foreign associate, is the eighth-largest car manufacturer in its country. It manufactures and sells sports utility vehicles (SUVs) like Haval H6, Haval H5 and Haval M4, hatchbacks Great Wall C20R, Great Wall C10, sedans like Great Wall C50 and Great Wall C30, as well as pick-up trucks.
The manufacturer's official website claims that it has an annual production capacity of around 8 lakh units and it exports vehicles to more than one hundred countries.
China's Beiqi Foton Motor Co. has reportedly already entered the process of establishing its plant near Chakan and has also submitted an application to obtain membership of SIAM.
