Chelsea to lodge intention to appeal against transfer ban

Chelsea to lodge intention to appeal against transfer banLondon - Chelsea will lodge their attention to appeal against their transfer ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Friday.

The Premier League leaders have been banned from signing new players in the next two transfer windows after being found guilty by FIFA of inducing teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens two years ago.

Chelsea hope to have the intention overturned or reduced, and will urge CAS to fast-track the hearing.

Once the club has notified CAS of its intention to appeal they have a further 10 days to lodge the papers with them. (dpa)
