Cell Phone Boosting Hardware unveiled by Verizon
There are many times during the day when we get utterly frustrated as we don't get cell phone reception in places we spend a lot of time at, such as work or home. However, we can chill and relax now since Verizon Wireless is coming out with femtocell, which will enhance the range of a cell phone.
It would be quite important to explain here that basically the Verizon Network Extender is a mini-cell tower and it works by utilizing the existing broadband Internet connection of the customer to provide coverage in an area up to 5,000 square feet.
Furthermore, the ability to send text messages, surf the mobile Web, and download e-mail can also be increased by the femtocell, which is made by Samsung. However,
3G speeds on Verizon's 3G network are not supported by it.
Jack Plating, executive VP and chief operating officer for Verizon informed in his statement, "Current and prospective customers have told us they want this, and we are responding to that demand. For those who have wanted to sign up for Verizon Wireless service but hesitated because of reception problems unique to their home locations, this is the answer."
May be the most attractive factor of Verizon's femtocell is that it does not involve the users in long term commitment. The users will not have to give any monthly fees; just one-time $249.99 plus taxes for a cell phone booster.
It should also be noted here that even rival Sprint Nextel has launched a network extender for $99, but its Airave comes with a $10 monthly fee.
