Celine Dion bids emotional adieu to Las Vegas
Washington, Dec 17 : Pop queen Celine Dion’s long-running Las Vegas show came to an emotional end after running for almost five-years.
The show ended with her final performance of "A New Day" at Caesars Palace with a tear and a rose given to her by son Rene Charles.
The 39-year-old singer was emotional all through the night, shedding tears following "My Heart Will Go On, " and speaking candidly to the crowd in person and via video.
"It's hard to believe that we've come to an end, " People magazine quoted her, as saying.
She explained that motherhood was her first priority and that’s the reason of her decision to end her run.
"It's a pleasure to perform for you, but I'm extremely passionate to be a mother, " she said.
Dion confessed in a speech that ran before the show began, that she actually wanted to end the show when her son Rene Charles was born.
"I wanted to be more successful as a mother than as a singer, " she said.
"It was a wonderful adventure... It was an emotional night. It was a wonderful adventure, ” said Dion after her final performance as a headliner in Vegas,
Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, and her 7-year-old came on stage to embrace her after her last number.
"A New Day" has grossed more than $400 million ever since her show opened in March 2003.
After Dion's departure from Caesars, Bette Midler, will begin her residency on with "The Showgirl Must Go On. "
