Cabinet Committee on Security to meet today in wake of Bhutto assassination

New Delhi, Dec 28: former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir BhuttoThe Cabinet Committee on Security will meet here this evening to review the situation emanating from Thursday’s assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

According to official sources, the meeting will be held on Friday evening after Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh returns from Goa.

Meanwhile, the Centre has issued an alert to all States for maintaining a tight vigil, especially along the Indo-Pak border.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has been asked to remain vigilant, a Home Ministry spokesperson said.

The advisory has been termed as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident.

In Gujarat, additional vigil is being maintained along the land as well as sea border with Pakistan.

The BSF has intensified night patrolling alongwith the land border with Kutch district, and the Coast Guard is keeping a close watch over the international boundary line in the Gulf of Kutch.

The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairperson, Bhutto, 54, was assassinated on Thursday evening during a party rally in Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh area. (ANI)
