TATA group owned Tata Consultancy Services started its new IT development center in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The development came when entire IT sector is facing the heat of global financial crisis. The new center was inaugurated by Orissa Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik in a function held in state's capital.
The function was also attended by Surjya Narayan Patro, Minister of Energy, Culture & Information Technology, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, IT, Orissa and TCS leadership team of S Ramadorai besides Managing director of Tata Steel, B Muthuraman.
IBM has entered into a US$5 million IT services agreement with Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (Kotak) to further strengthen latter’s position as one of the leading banking and financial services provider in India.
Under the arrangement, IBM will design, build and maintain a highly scalable, energy-efficient green data center as well as the converged IP network infrastructure for the client.
On Thursday, it was announced by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy that the recent developments in the software giant Satyam group are not going to affect major projects in the state.
Reddy said to a pointed question on the fate of projects like the Hyderabad Metro Rail, entrusted to Maytas, “Satyam is Satyam. Maytas is Maytas. Right now we don't see any problem. Maytas will do it.”
Vodafone has made announcement about the launching of its new service, named ‘Vodafone Friends Circle’ permitting customers to make local calls to family and friends more frequent and long.
The offer is for both pre paid and post paid users.
The facility allows users to add up at least 5 numbers and enjoy extra talk time to local calls at just 20 paise per min.
This service can easily be activated by sending an SMS ‘FRIENDS’ to a toll free number 144.
The stake of chairman of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, B. Ramalinga Raju and his family declined to 5.13% from 8.27% following large scale selling of shares by the institutional investors. The company is facing trouble since allegations of corruption were made on Mr. Raju while executing some important deals. The World Bank has also banned the company for eight years on the basis of bribery charges.
