Public To Get E-Passport By Sept 2009

The ordinary passport category would avail E-passport by September 2009. This is told by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee at Coimbatore. He was here to inaugurate a new Regional Passport Office.

E-passport is very easy to use and read. It is safe to use against forgeries. The official and diplomatic category of country is already getting the bio metric passport. The very first e-diplomatic passports were given to the President, Vice President and Prime Minister in June. It would be available for all ministers, state ministers and officials within three weeks.

Satyam To Axe 4,500 Employees

Satyam Computers is planning to lower the burden of workforce. As many as 4500 employees can be affected by this decision of the company. The company has total work force of 51,000 employees at present.

The company has also started the performance improvement plan and asked low performer to either quit or sharpen them.

He expressed these views in the annual ICT (information, communication and technology) event organized by Confederation of Indian Industry and the Tamil Nadu Government.

The company is also offering 125 channels at Rs 100 per month in response to Tata Sky’s offer of 53 channels for Rs 99 per month.

Tamil Nadu Govt To Launch WebsiteThe Tamil Nadu Government has revealed that it has planned to roll out a website, which would enable the user to access information on various aspects.

While commenting on website, Mr. C Chandramouli, IT Secretary stated, “It would be a mother of all portals where anyone can get information or services on 110 various services. It might be something to do with telephone bill payment or birth certificate, but it would cover the entire state.”

According to the sources, the website was ready but its launch date has yet to be finalized.
