Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar and Idea Cellular may have to pay Rs 4,000 crore each for having overdrawn cellular services beyond 6.2Mhz.
The license dose not permit them to use more than 6.2 MHz in each circle and a one time fee is being imposed on the operators, for overusing the services. Mr A Raja, the Communication and IT Minister said on Tuesday "the issue was being discussed with the Finance Ministry and a decision on the exact quantum of the fee and the method of calculation will be announced by October".
