Jet Airways, and its subsidiary JetLite, the leading airlines of the country, have reduced the fuel surcharge by Rs 400 and Rs 300 per ticket, respectively, following a dip in the aviation fuel prices. Jet Airways- JetLite combined, run a fleet of 109 aircrafts.
The Dabhol power plant in Maharashtra would get gas from Krishna-Godavari (K-G) basin on a priority basis. K-G basin is being developed by Reliance Industries in Andhra Pradesh. RIL is directed by the union petroleum ministry to sell gas at $4.2 per million British thermal unit (mBtu) after the judgment of the court. It also asked RIL to supply gas to some fertilizer plants.
The largest iron ore producer of the country, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is all set to slash the prices of iron ore by 40 percent. The step is aimed to increase the demand of iron ore for the manufacture and automobile sector. The board of NMDC would meet on December 4-5 to discuss the impact of the global slowdown on steel makers and iron industry.
The Kerala High court issued a stay order on the construction of the Rs 5,000 crore Vizhinjam Port Transshipment Terminal Project in Kerala, which was awarded to Hyderabad-based Lanco Infratech. The ruling comes in response to a petition, filed by Mumbai-based Zoom Developers, whose bid for the port project was disqualified on technical grounds. The divisional bench, headed by chief justice H L Dattu, has given 15 days to the evaluation committee to look into the tender quotations, submitted by Zoom.
In order to improve ground handling and cargo operations at various airports, the National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL) has proposed to set up joint venture companies with Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd (SATS).
